Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Ergen is our Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer. In 2001, Ergen was the first person to ever win the Rocky Mountain News' Business Person of the Year for a second time, being recognized for the same award in 1996. Ergen was named to the Forbes Magazine Top Ten CEO's list and as the Frost & Sullivan 2001 CEO of the Year for Satellite Industry. In 2000, Aviation Week Magazine named him Space Industry Business Man of the Year. In June 1991, INC. Magazine named him Master Entrepreneur of the Year for the Rocky Mountain region. In 1988, he received the Home Satellite TV Association Star Award. Ergen was instrumental in fighting for consumer rights with the passage of the Satellite Home Viewer Improvement Act in 1999 which gave American consumers the right to watch local TV channels via satellite. He has also testified before Congress regarding other video competition issues on numerous occasions and was a co-founder of the Satellite Broadcasting Communications Association. He received his B.S. in General Business and Accounting from the University of Tennessee and his M.B.A from the Babcock Graduate School of Management at Wake Forest University.
R. Stanton Dodge
Executive Vice President, General Counsel, Secretary and Director
Stanton Dodge serves as a member of our Board of Directors and is currently the Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of DISH Network Corporation ("DISH Network") and EchoStar and is responsible for all legal and government affairs of DISH Network, EchoStar and their subsidiaries. Mr. Dodge serves as our Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary pursuant to a management services agreement between DISH Network and EchoStar that was entered into in connection with the spin-off of EchoStar from DISH Network on January 1, 2008. Since joining DISH Network in November 1996, he has held various positions of increasing responsibility in DISH Network's legal department.
Bernard L. Han
Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Bernie Han serves as the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of EchoStar. He joined the company in September 2006 and is responsible for all accounting and finance functions. Prior to joining EchoStar, Han served as executive vice president and CFO of Northwest Airlines, the world's fourth largest airline. Before that role, Han held the chief financial officer and chief marketing officer roles at America West Airlines. He began his career in the space and communications group of Hughes Aircraft Company and then at American Airlines. Han received master's degrees in Business Administration and Electrical Engineering as well as a bachelor's degree from Cornell University.
Mark W. Jackson
President, EchoStar Technologies L.L.C.
Mark Jackson serves as the President of EchoStar Technologies, a position he has held since 2004. Jackson served as Senior Vice President of EchoStar (now known as DISH Network) from April 2000 until June 2004 and as Senior Vice President of Satellite Services from December 1997 until April 2000. Jackson also served as Vice President of Engineering starting in 1996 after joining the company in 1993 as Director of Engineering. Prior to that, Jackson was Director of Engineering at Tandon Corporation, Inc., where he was responsible for product development, strategic planning and new product conception and definition. Jackson attended Texas Tech University and studied electrical engineering.
Dean A. Olmstead
President, EchoStar Satellite Services L.L.C.
Dean Olmstead serves as the President of EchoStar Satellite Services. He is responsible for developing that branch of our business utilizing our satellites, FCC licenses, digital broadcast centers and fiber optic capacity. Before joining the company in January 2008, Olmstead served as an advisor to Loral Space & Communications on strategic and growth opportunities for its satellite service businesses and served on its board of directors. Additionally, he was President of Arrowhead Global Solutions, President and CEO of SES Americom and held leadership positions with DirecTV Japan, NASA and the U.S. State Department.
Steven B. Schaver
President, EchoStar International Corporation
Steven Schaver serves as the President of EchoStar International. Having held the position since 2000, he concentrates on expanding EchoStar's worldwide set-top box distribution. Schaver served as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer from 1996 until he was named President. From November 1993 to February 1996, he was the Vice President of EchoStar's European and African distribution and sales offices. From July 1992 to November 1993, Schaver served as the Director of Sales and Marketing for EchoStar's largest Spanish customer in Madrid. Since joining EchoStar in 1984, he has held various positions with subsidiaries of EchoStar, including Vice President of European Operations. Prior to joining EchoStar, Schaver was a banking officer with Continental Illinois National Bank.
